Cashews are considered very healthy by doctors and nutritionists. They are a good source of protein, which you need to build and repair muscle tissue. They are also rich in unsaturated fats, which are good for heart health and may help to reduce cholesterol levels. And they are high in several essential minerals, particularly copper, which helps to keep your cells healthy and your immune system strong.
Cashews are high in nutrients such as fibre, minerals, and antioxidants – but because they are so delicious, it’s easy to overindulge on them! To reap the optimum benefits of this healthy snack, doctors and nutritionists generally recommend eating one serving (equivalent to about a handful) of cashews per day.
Cashews are native to Brazil, and are now cultivated in various hot climate areas around the globe. West Africa, East Africa, and India are among the world’s main cashew-growing regions. Our Lightly Salted Cashews are grown in Ia Grai, a rural district of Vietnam’s Gia Lai province. Click here to find Ia Grai on our interactive map!

We are committed to a transparent and ethical supply chain for our cashew nuts. Our Lightly Salted Cashews are grown and processed in Gia Lai province, Vietnam. They are farmed and harvested in Ia Grai district, where we support the local farming community by providing fair remuneration, access to agricultural training, and infrastructure such as clean water wells. The cashews are then processed and packed in a facility where more than 80% of the employees and managers are women.
Women in Vietnam often have to settle for lower-paying jobs, or work in environments that are unsafe.
Over 500 women work at our cashew processing facility in Pleiku, including in managerial roles.
They receive equal pay for equal work, and enjoy benefits such as maternity leave and health insurance.
Cashews are an excellent source of magnesium. This essential mineral supports cardiovascular health, and research indicates it also helps to reduce anxiety.
Cashews also offer a range of other beneficial nutrients, such as vitamin K for stronger bones. And because they contain healthy fats, cashews help vitamin K and other fat-soluble vitamins to be properly absorbed by your body.
Small farmers in Vietnam are often exploited by unscrupulous middlemen that don’t pay fair market rates for crops. Farmers can also be paid late, which forces them to take loans in order to survive.
In Gia Lai province in Vietnam, we've established co-operatives with our cashew farmers. Now, the farmers can rely on being paid fairly and on time. This has enabled them to break free of the cycle of debt, become more prosperous, and provide their children with a brighter future.
In Vietnam, we connected more than 3,000 cashew farmers to training in organic farming and improved farming techniques. The training has helped the farmers' soil become healthier and more productive.
It has also allowed some of the farmers to become organic and Fairtrade certified, enabling them to earn higher prices for their crops.
As useful as it is, plastic is an enemy of nature. That’s why we're continuing to work hard to remove all traces of plastic from our packaging.
We're 91% of the way there. So, if you or someone you know has an idea that can help us achieve our goal, please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
